BARSTOW – Family and friends are left to mourn the death of two Barstow men after they were killed when the vehicle they were in was struck by a train Saturday night.
For reasons that remain under investigation, the driver who was driving southbound on Yucca Avenue lost control of the vehicle causing it to travel into northbound lanes. The vehicle continued on, going off of the roadway, and ultimately falling approximately 35 feet onto the railroad tracks.
The vehicle was struck by a westbound traveling train killing 39-year-old Dupree Steel and 35-year-old Ramund Woods. According to friends, both men leave behind young children.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the Barstow Police Department. Anyone who has any information regarding this incident should call (760) 256-2211.
