LAKE ELSINORE – A deputy in the area of Grand Avenue and Marie drive on Monday evening who was responding to an unrelated incident heard two gunshots and several following. He then noticed a vehicle fleeing the area and attempted to make contact with the driver. The vehicle got away temporarily but was located a short time later with evidence of its involvement, in front of a home in the 33000 block of Leeward Way.
The deputy called for assistance and a perimeter was set up. Soon after a 911 call was received reporting a woman who was suffering from gunshot wounds in the area of Grand Avenue and Marie Drive. The victim was treated at the scene and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two men at the Leeward Way home were detained and Elijah Lamaj Crayton, 20, of Lake Elsinore was arrested for attempted murder. He was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta. Carnell Johnson Jr., 27, of Lake Elsinore was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and felon in possession of a firearm. The vehicle was seized as evidence.
