PINON HILLS, Ca– Two Santa Ana men were arrested on Wednesday after attempting to steal hundreds of gallons of gas from a Pinon Hills gas station.
At around 2:43 a.m. deputies at the Victor Valley Station were dispatched to the Shell Gas Station, located at 8900 Beekley Road in Pinon Hills for the report of a possible theft of gas. When the deputy arrived at the location, he found the two suspects, later identified as Daniel Ramossantoyo, 23 and Andres Berruete, 23 still at the gas pump.
Through investigation it was learned that the suspects had pried the gas pump open and siponed around 200 gallons of gas from the pump using a device to do so. The gas was collected within a large gas tank that was inside the covered bed of the truck. The suspects are also believed to have been involved in a similar grand theft on Monday, September 19, 2022, at the Shell Gas Statiohn in Phelan.
Both suspects were arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for conspiracy to commit a crime, grand theft, and vandalism. Both suspects were released on bail and is scheduled to appear at the San Bernardino Superior Court at a later date.
