HESPERIA – Two suspects on dirt bikes, one determined to be stolen were apprehended after leading the CHP helicopter (H-80) on a pursuit.
The initial report made on Sunday indication that an assault with a deadly weapon occurred. H-80 responded and located the suspects, who were both on dirt bikes. After only a few minutes, H-80 located the bikes and gave commands to the suspects over the PA.
The suspects fled into the desert using dirt trails at high speeds, while H-80 flew overhead for around 15 minutes. They hid behind bushes and later stopped along the aqueduct near the Hesperia Airport where they finally decided to surrender, H-80 landed and detained both riders. Both suspects were taken into custody.
