RANCHO CUCAMONGA – Over $1.4 million in stolen property was recovered from a Colton storage unit after deputies served a storage unit rented by a 37-year-old San Bernardino man.
The investigation began on February 22, 2018, at around 6:00 p.m. when the Rancho Cucamonga Police responded to a storage facility in the 10700 block of Arrow Route in the City of Rancho Cucamonga reference a burglary of Marvel collectibles. Authorities said that some of the collectibles stolen had been used as movie props in Marvel movies.
The victim was unaware of the burglary of his storage space until someone told him that several of his collectibles were listed for sale on the internet. One of the suspects, a 35-year-old San Bernardino man, was identified as Ian Florez when he responded by providing his information to interested buyers. As additional investigation leads were developed, sufficient evidence was collected to obtain an arrest warrant for Florez, who was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center. It was learned that Florez had additional warrants.
The ongoing investigation led detectives to Matthew Rinke, on March 7, 2018. Rinke was detained during a traffic stop near his home near Thompson Place and Arrowhead Avenue. A search of his storage facility in the City of Colton led to the finding of $1.4 million worth of stolen property, all belonging to the victim. Rinke was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center and was also found to have additional warrants.
