APPLE VALLEY – Two men were arrested for the carjacking and the attempted murder of the man who walked out of the desert and sought help from an Apple Valley resident officials said.
The initial incident was reported on Sunday, July 22, 2018, at around 10:28 p.m. when a resident called 911 to report that there was an injured male subject the told him that someone tried to kill him in a nearby desert area west of Bell Mountain. Deputies from Apple Valley station responded to the 19300 block of Chuparosa Road to respond to the stabbing. The victim was rushed to the hospital and stabilized. He was unable to speak for several days but was later able to tell authorities that he was in the desert area with two acquaintances, who he only knew by their nicknames.
Using the information provided and other investigative leads, authorities were able to identify the suspects as Tyler Yeager, 25, and Elihue Lee, 21, both of Victorville. Yeager and Lee were allegedly in the desert area with the victim when Yeager confronted with a large knife. Yeager used the knife to cut the victim along the side of his throat, then Lee spayed the wound with pepper spray. The suspects took the victim’s keys and left in his vehicle. The victim was left bleeding in the remote desert area but was able to hike to nearby homes. The victim was able to get the attention by a resident who called for help.
As a result of the investigation, on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, detectives and deputies arrested the suspects; Elihue Lee was arrested while leaving a home in the 16800 block of Tracy Street in the City of Victorville and Tyler Yeager was located driving the victim’s vehicle near Hesperia and Seneca Roads. Evidence was located which linked the suspects to the crime. Lee was also determined to have a felony vandalism warrant.
Yeager and Lee were booked at the High Desert Detention Center for Attempted Murder and Carjacking. Yeager is being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail and Lee is being held in lieu of $1,025,000.
