FONTANA – Two 55-hour closures are coming to the 15 freeway near the Duncan Canyon Road. The closures are being made to install box culverts to the I-15 in the City of Fontana. Caltrans, along with the City of Fontana will install the box culvert under the I-15 as part of the $3 million Duncan Canyon Road Interchange Project. Caltrans officials said that the project was awarded to SEMA Construction in September 2016 and the work began in January 2017.
The first of the two closures will be from 9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31st to 4:00 a.m. on on Monday April 3rd. The second closure, closing the northbound I-15 will begin at 11:00 p.m. on Friday, April 7th and will end at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, April 10th. The storm drain facility was combined with the Duncan Canyon Road Interchange Project to minimize the impacts on I-15 commuters. “The project is necessary to complete the local drainage facility, which will allow water to effectively flow from the east side of I-15 to the west side,” said Caltrans spokesman Philip Havins.
Detours will be denoted by signage places ahead of the closures. Motorists should plan ahead for any detours and/or delays that may be a result of these closures.
