VICTORVILLE, Calif. – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials identified the deputy who was injured during the deputy-involved shooting on Wednesday.
Deputy Jason Aria was hired by the department in July 2016, and was assigned to the Victorville Police Department in October 2017. Deputy Aria was airlifted to Loma Linda University Hospital and was released the same day. He is expected to make a full recovery. “At this point in the investigation, detectives believe a ricocheted bullet fragment struck Deputy Aria,” Sheriff’s officials said. “The investigation is continuing to determine the origin of the bullet.”
Anthony Brown, 54, of Victorville, was named as the suspect. Brown remains in the hospital and is expected to survive his injuries.
