VICTORVILLE, Calif. – A Victorville man was arrested after leading deputies on a pursuit early on the 4th of July morning.
At around 5:20 a.m., a deputy with the Apple Valley station attempted to stop a black Ford Crown Victoria on Bear Valley and Kiowa Roads. The vehicle that was equipped with tinted front windows, spotlights, and a push bar, failed to yield to the lights and siren. The driver, later identified as David MacDonald kept driving at a high rate of speed, eventually colliding into the chain link fence of a home in the 21000 block of Multnomah Road. The vehicle continued a short distance and stopped.
Rather than surrendering, MacDonald got out of the vehicle in the 12000 block of Omak Road and fled on foot. Deputies chased him until they found him hiding under a travel trailer. He was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for Evading a Police Officer with Disregard for Safety, and Felony Vandalism. He was later transferred to the West Valley Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail. MacDonald was also learned to be on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) at the time of his arrest.
MacDonald appeared at the Victorville Superior Court via Jail Video on Monday, July 8, 2019, and pleaded not guilty to all charges. He has an extensive criminal record including convictions for possession of drugs, attempted vehicle theft, violation of PRCS, driving under the influence of drugs, receiving stolen property, robbery, drug dealing, and felony domestic violence. On Monday, July 8th he was sentenced for a violation of PRCS, it is unclear if it was related to this incident or an earlier incident. He was sentenced to 176 days, with five days credit for time served. He will be required to serve 50% of the remaining 171 days.
