VICTORVILLE – A 29-year-old Victorville man was arrested after authorities found handguns and highly explosive material in his possession on Wednesday afternoon. At around 3:40 p.m. A reporting party called and reporting that a man, later identified as Loren James Lunsford, was in possession of a gun in the area of 6th and E Streets in the City of Victorville.
The reporting party told the dispatchers that Lunsford was pulling a wagon near the railroad tracks and had what appeared to assault rifle strapped onto his back. Deputies made contact with Lunsford and found that the rifle that was reported was an airsoft gun. After looking further, the deputy found a loaded handgun and a second handgun with an altered handgun. Also in his possession was a material called Tannerite, which is highly explosive, prescription narcotics not belonging to him, methamphetamine, as well as drug paraphernalia.
Lunsford was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for possession of a controlled substance while armed, making a destructive device without a permit, and altering the identification number of a firearm. He is scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court on November 3, 2017.
