VICTORVILLE – A Victorville man was taken into custody on Sunday after robbing an elderly woman Sheriff’s officials said. On Sunday afternoon, at around 1:35 p.m. suspect Trey Martell Johnson was in the parking lot of the Rite Aid store on 7th Street and La Paz Drive. As the woman got out of her vehicle, Johnson grabbed her purse and ran into the store. While in the store, Johnson began taking bottles of alcohol from the store shelves.
The female victim went into the store and told the store manager what happened outside of the store. She told him that the suspect ran into the store. Johnson ran from the store, dropping the woman’s purse, but taking the bottles of alcohol with him. “A deputy in the area saw the manager chasing after the subject and the female victim flagged the deputy down and told him what had occurred,” said Victorville Sheriff’s station spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. “The deputy was able to apprehend the suspect and take him into custody.”
The suspect required medical attention due to a pre-existing medical condition and he was booked into the West Valley Detention Center the following day. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail and is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Wednesday afternoon.
