VICTORVILLE, Ca. – A 25-year-old Victorville man was arrested for animal cruelty, criminal threats and obstructing an officer on Saturday night.
At around 11:03 p.m. Victorville Station deputies responded to the 13500 block of Mesa Linda Avenue in the City of Victorville for the report of a disturbance at the home. The caller stated the Christian Camarillo was choking and hitting the family dog while being armed with a kitchen knife. When the first responding deputy arrived he made contact with Camarillo inside the home. He attempted to detain Camarillo but he became aggressive, breaking free from the deputy’s hold and threatening him.
The deputy attempted to detain him but Camarillo ignored his commands and left the home. The deputy continued to try to detain him but he began moving toward the deputy. The deputy deployed his taser in order to subdue Camarillo. Additional deputies arrived and assisted in taking Camarillo into custody. The dog did not sustain any lasting injuries, according to Victorville Spokeswoman, Mara Rodriguez.
He was booked at the High Desert Detention Center and was later transferred to the West Valley Detention Center where he is now being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Tuesday, February 9, 2021.
