Victorville Man Arrested for Choking and Threatening to Kill His Girlfriend

VICTORVILLE, Calif. – A Victorville man was arrested for attempted murder after choking his girlfriend and separating her from their infant child.

On Saturday, April 6, 2019, at around 9:16 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the Casa Bella Apartments located in the 16900 block of Nisqualli Road for the report of a domestic disturbance. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Christian Ray Sanchez, who is a U.S. Army Veteran, assaulted his 26-year-old girlfriend. He then took their 4-month-old daughter into another room. When deputies arrived they were able to get Sanchez to open the door of the home and let deputies hold the baby as they spoke to him.

The victim was located in the bedroom of the apartment home suffering from injuries sustained when the suspect choked her. “Deputies learned the suspect had also brandished a machete during the attack and threatened to kill the victim,” said Victorville Station Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. “She was transported to a local hospital, where she was treated and later released.”

Sanchez was booked at the High Desert Detention Center for Attempted Murder, Battery with Serious Bodily Injury, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Inflicting Serious Injury on a Spouse or Cohabitant, and Exhibiting a Deadly Weapon. A machete was located at the home and was placed into evidence with a tomahawk and fixed blade knife also found in the home.
