VICTORVILLE – On Friday, June 8, 2018, at around 7:55 a.m. deputies from the Victorville station responded to a grand theft auto report at a business in the 13800 block of Amargosa Road.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) helicopter responded to the scene to assist in the search of the stolen vehicle. “A short time later CHP helicopter crew spotted the vehicle, which had become stuck in the sand, in the desert area near San Mateo and Palmdale Roads,” said Victorville Station Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. The suspect, later identified as Donte Piceno, 40, of Victorville, was seen walking away from the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident.
He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for Burglary and Vehicle Theft and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
