VICTORVILLE, Ca. – A Victorville man who was out on bail for a previous offense was arrested on Tuesday for a vehicle theft, pursuit and possession of both weapons and drugs.
At around 6:38 a.m. a deputy with the Victorville Station noticed a 1997 Honda CIvic speeding and attempted to stop it near Borego and Anacapa Roads. The driver did not stop and led the deputy on a short pursuit before pulling into a dirt alley off Bonanza Road and fleeing on foot. The deputy followed the shoe tracks from the vehicle to a home on Cholame Road. A trailer was located in the rear of the property where the suspect, identified as Ceasar Isaiah Campos, 24, was found and arrested.
The deputy searched Campos and located methamphetamine and a glass pipe in the waistband of his pants. A backpack was found in the vehicle, inside the backpack the deputy found a loaded firearm and multiple vehicle registration tags. As the deputy was searching the vehicle, dispatchers received a call from the owner of the vehicle reporting the vehicle Campos was driving stolen.
A record check showed that Campos was out of custody on $25000 bond for unrelated grand theft charges stemming from a crime allegedly committed in December 2019. In addition, Campos had a prior arrest for vehicle theft and the possession of a controlled substance in May 2019. Campos was booked at High Desert Detention Center. His charges include evading a Peace Officer, vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm during the commission of a felony, and vehicle registration fraud. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court on March 12, 2020.
