VICTORVILLE – A 19-year-old Victorville man was arrested after attempting to shoplift from the Macy’s Store at the Victor Valley Mall Tuesday night.
At around 8:30 p.m. the suspect entered the Macy’s store and allegedly began concealing clothing. The suspect, later identified as Andrew Salazar was approached by the store’s loss prevention personnel as he attempted to leave the store. Salazar began fighting the loss prevention personnel. “He then pulled a black handgun from his waistband and threatened them with the gun,” said Victorville Sheriff’s Station spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. “The loss prevention officer was able to take the gun from him and detained him until deputies arrived.” The gun was later determined to be a pellet gun with a laser sight.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Salazar was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for robbery, threatening crime with the intent to terrorize, and exhibiting a deadly weapon. He is being held in lieu of $125,000 bail and is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Thursday, March 9, 2017.
