VICTORVILLE – A suspect who hit a 60-year-old male victim several times with a metal pole after he refused to give him money Monday night remains at large.
The incident was reported at 9:47 p.m. when the victim’s roommate called 911. He told dispatchers that the victim went to walk his dog at around 9:00 p.m. and was assaulted by an unknown black male adult. “ He was first approached by a black male adult, in the area of Bear Valley Rd and Amethyst, who asked him for change,” said Victorville Sheriff’s Station spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. “The victim told him he did not have any money and continued on.”
The suspect continued to follow the victim and again demanded money. When the victim did not give the suspect money he struck the victim several times with a metal pole. The victim ran home to get help and the suspect fled the area. The victim had marks from the pole hitting him and he complained of back and arm pain authorities said. “AMR was requested for the victim but it is unclear if he was transported to a hospital or just treated at the scene,” added Rodriguez. The suspect described only as a black man wearing a dark hoodie sweatshirt has not been located.
