VICTORVILLE – An elderly Victorville man is recovering from only minor injuries after being hit by a vehicle when he was checking his mail in the 16700 block of Highgate Circle in the City of Victorville. On Wednesday, August 10, 2016, just after 6:45 a.m. the man went out to check his mail, he was in the street when a neighbor backed up and hit him.
“The victim apparently yelled at the suspect when he saw him backing but the suspect did not appear to hear him,” said Victorville Sheriff’s Station spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. “After hitting the victim, the suspect left the scene in a dark blue SUV.”
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. There was no one at the home belonging to the suspect when deputies arrived. It is unknown at this time if the suspect was located or if any arrests were made as a result of the incident.
