VICTORVILLE – A Victorville area transient who earlier this year was arrested for attempting to steal a vehicle out of the garage of a home was arrested on Friday for the attempted burglary of Valley-Hi Toyota .
At around 6:36 a.m. deputies from the Victorville station responded to the report of an attempted grand theft auto and burglary at the Valley-Hi Toyota located in the 1460 block of Valley Center Drive in the City of Victorville.
The report came from an employee who was at the dealership at the time and found a male suspect, later identified as Dontra Anthony Morris, 28, attempting to get into vehicles in the service area at the business location. ” The man was told to leave but a short time later was located inside the parts department, attempting to steal merchandise,” said Victorville Sheriff’s Station spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. ” He was escorted off the property by employees just prior to deputies arriving.”
Aerial support was requested from H80, the CHP helicopter. They arrived at the scene and located Morris in the shopping center on 7th Street near La Paz Drive. When they located Morris, he was attempting to enter a vehicle parked at the shopping center. Morris who was currently on probation for Grand Theft Auto for a May 27, 2017, arrest was taken into custody without incident.
He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for attempted Grand Theft Auto, Attempted Burglary, and Violation of Felony Probation. He is being held without bail as a result of the violation of probation.
