VICTORVILLE – One person is deceased, one was airlifted, a third was transported by ground ambulance, and the driver of one of the vehicles is nowhere to be found after a collision on Palmdale Road near Diamond Road Friday night.
At around 10:12 p.m. two vehicles collided for reasons that remain under investigation; leaving one vehicle on its roof and both vehicles with major damage. When emergency medical personnel arrived, one person was pronounced dead at the scene, one was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital, and a third was transported to Mesa Linda Park to be airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
A witness told authorities that two Hispanic men exited one of the vehicles and was picked up by a white Chevrolet Avalanche that fled eastbound on Palmdale Road.Deputies from the Victorville Station requested a blood draw at Mesa Linda park for one of the drivers to rule out Driving Under the Influence (DUI). Palmdale Road was shut down in both directions from Emerald Road to Cobalt Road for several hours.
