VICTORVILLE, Calif. – A 57-year-old Victorville transient was arrested on Sunday for an assault on his ex-girlfriend authorities said.
On January 27, 2019, at around 7:10 a.m. deputies from the Victorville Station were dispatched to the 14200 block of Rodeo Drive for the report of a disturbance. Through investigation, deputies learned that Vincent Rivera went to the home of his ex-girlfriend and the two were involved in a verbal altercation. “The suspect grabbed the victim’s cell phone and refused to return it,” said Victorville Sheriff’s Station Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. “The victim attempted to take the phone back and was pushed to the floor. While on the floor, the suspect held the victim down by pushing his knee against her neck, making it difficult for her to breathe.”
Rivera fled the area with the cell phone before deputies arrived. Deputies learned that Rivera was wanted for a parole violation and has had a history of crimes similar to the one committed that day. Rivera was located in a parking lot near Green Tree Boulevard and Hesperia Road. Rivera refused to comply with deputies and would not remove his hands from his pockets. Deputies used less than lethal force in order to get the suspect to comply. He was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for robbery, inflicting corporal injury, obstructing a Peace Officer, and felony parole violation. He is scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court on January 29, 2019.
