SAN BERNARDINO – A Victorville woman lost her life as a result of a multi-vehicle traffic collision on the 215 freeway in the City of San Bernardino.
On August 24, 2018, at around 4:45 a.m., according to San Bernardino County Coroner’s officials, Lanika Alexander, 41, was the occupant in one of several involved in a traffic collision. CHP officials said that Chamnan Phonn, 29, of Hesperia was driving a 2011 Ford Van and for reasons still under investigation he failed to stop for the traffic ahead of him. The Ford struck a 2014 Ford sedan, which caused a chain reaction colliding into a total of five vehicles. Alexander occupied one of the vehicles, a 2015 Toyota Prius.
“Due to the force of the collision, the female driver suffered major injuries and was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries,” said CHP Spokesperson Brian Alvarez. Alexander was pronounced dead at 9:57 a.m. according to the San Bernardino County Coroner’s report.
