WEST COVINA, Ca. – Three reported kidnappings in West Covina is causing alarm to parents as well as police in the area.
On Thursday, September 5, 2019, at around 7:20 a.m., a 12-year-old boy from Traweek Middle School reported that a man in a newer 4-door black Mercedes approached him as he was walking to school. While the driver attempted to lure the boy into the car, a male on a bicycle came up behind the boy and attempted to push him into the car. The boy got away and reported the incident to the school.
The driver was described as a 20-30 year old White man. He was wearing sunglasses and a dark shirt. The male on the bicycle was a Hispanic man in his 20’s. He was wearing a ski mask and a black hooded sweatshirt. The boy was not injured during the incident.
On Wednesday, September 4, 2019, police responded to two other calls, one at 1:18 p.m. near Workman and Ellen Avenue when a man offered a 10-year-old girl a ride home as she walked home from school. The second was at around 3:06 p.m. when a passerby reported that a man in a black sedan was following a young girl in a black sedan near Lark Ellen and Workman Avenues. Officers were unable to locate the girl or the reporting party.
Detectives are investigating the incident and attempting to determine if the reports are related. Anyone who has any information should call the West Covina Police at 626-939-8688.
