WHITTIER – A 17-year-old male student from Whittier High School was arrested for threatening to “shoot up the school” authorities said. The student was heard making statements of a threatening nature at the end of 3rd period. The concerned students reported the threats to a staff member who immediately notified the school’s administration who soon gave the information to the School Resource Officer.
At around 3:00 p.m. the School Resource Officer located and detained the student on campus. The student was unarmed, and the investigation continued. Witnesses were interviewed and the student was arrested for felony terrorist/criminal threats. A search warrant was issued and the juvenile’s home was searched. No weapons were located in the juveniles home.
The student was transported to Los Padrinos Juvenile hall; he is not eligible for bail while awaiting charges.
