APPLE VALLEY – One patient was airlifted with major head trauma after a single vehicle traffic collision on the 15 freeway north just north of Stoddard Wells Road the County Fire Department officials said.
Just before 3:50 p.m. dispatchers received a report of a teal colored Chevy Cavalier driving all over road nearly hitting several vehicles. Just minutes later at around 3:53 p.m. the Cavalier overturned landing on its roof approximately 50’ off of the roadway according to CHP officials.
From preliminary investigations, CHP officials were able to determine that the woman, who was driving southbound at a high rate of speed left the roadway, attempted to correct by steering sharply causing her vehicle to overturn.
The female occupant, an Apple Valley resident was reported to have a head injury but was conscious and breathing when emergency personnel arrived.
The patient was transported by ground to the landing zone at Victor Valley Global Medical Center to prepare to be airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
There were no other injuries reported as a result of the collision. The cause of the collision is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol at this time.
