RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – A Rancho Cucamonga woman was arrested for the alleged abuse of her 16-month-old son.
On Wednesday, May 22, 2019, Marquel Jasmine Velasquez, 25, took her toddler to Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) for an x-ray for an undisclosed injury. During the examination, numerous other injuries were located on the body of the young child, some of them partially healed. All of the injuries were consistent with child abuse, according to the medical personnel.
The child suffered injuries which has kept him hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit since Wednesday. The toddler has lived with his mother, the suspect, since birth and most recently lived in the City of Rancho Cucamonga. Based on the investigation, Velasquez was arrested on Friday at around 3:00 a.m. for Willful Cruelty to Child. She was booked at the Central Detention Center, but was released on $100,000 bail on Friday just before 4:30 p.m.
