HESPERIA, Calif. – A female pedestrian is deceased after being struck by a vehicle on Bear Valley Road in the City of Hesperia early Saturday morning.
At around 3:17 a.m. San Bernardino County Fire Department and Hesperia Station deputies were dispatched to the area of Bear Valley Road near Eleventh Avenue for a vehicle versus pedestrian collision. The reporting party told dispatchers that he just ran over a person. When deputies arrived they found a Hispanic woman lying in the eastbound #3 lane of Bear Valley Road, east of the Eleventh Avenue intersection. She was unresponsive and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the 2003 black Chevrolet Avalanche was driving eastbound in the #3 lane of Bear Valley Road. The woman appeared to be crossing Bear Valley Road in a southeast direction. She was around 160 feet east of the crosswalk at Eleventh Avenue. The driver of the Chevrolet struck the female. He remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The driver showed no signs of being under the influence.
. MAIT Investigators are continuing the investigation into the collision. Bear Valley Road was closed in both directions from Eleventh Avenue to Ninth Avenue until about 8:15 a.m. while MAIT investigators processed the scene for evidence. The identity of the woman will not be released at this time. Anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Deputy Scott LaFond or Deputy Russell Ballantyne from the Hesperia Station.
