HESPERIA – A Hesperia woman, heartbroken by the collision that took the lives of Christina Eileen Estrada, 31, and her sons Jeremiah Robert Abbott, 3, and Noah Abbott, 2, decided to use crafting as therapy to help her deal with tragic circumstances. Tracey Torres-Skare, a mother herself, is the neighbor of the Abbott family. “My daughter played with Noah and Jeremiah often,” said Tracey. “We were deeply saddened to hear of the accident and trying to do what we can to help the family in any way possible.”
After the Thursday, March 2nd crash into the aqueduct, Jeremiah was found and transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. His big brother, Elijah Estrada, 10, was found grasping onto a floatation buoy and was transported to a trauma center where he spent a couple of days prior to his release. Christina Eileen Estrada was located deceased in the vehicle pulled from the aqueduct. Baby Noah Abbott, only 2-years-old after searches in the aqueduct and on the ground has yet to be located.
The community, as a symbol as solidarity, has left their porch lights on and have said they will continue to until Noah is found. Tracey got to work wanting to do something related to the incident that would show her support and love for those lives lost in the crash. She made a mini lantern in honor of Noah. Tracey liked the results of her crafting so much that she shared it with the family asking for their blessing to sell them. “I didn’t want to just give them the money, I thought it would be nice to be able to make Easter baskets for the kids since it will be the first holiday without Christina and the little boys,” said Tracey. “I just want to give the kids something unexpected at a time that I’m sure will be hard for the whole family.”
Tracey said that if she receives more donations than needed for the Easter Baskets she will use the remainder to give the siblings something fun to do over the summer or to make more baskets periodically. “I love the little boys that we lost very much but we can’t forget about the ones who are left behind they will be missing their family every day,” said Tracey. “I want them to know that we as a community care about them and want to love on them not just today but in the future too.”
So far, Tracey said that she has received approximately 45 orders for the mini lanterns that she is selling for $7 each. If anyone would like to order, they can email tray_arlene@Yahoo.com.
