HESPERIA – The Hesperia police and medical personnel responded to a stabbing on Tuesday afternoon. The stabbing was reported to be on the 14100 block of Poplar Street in Hesperia at around 1:15 p.m.
The male suspect left on a bike toward Ashwood Court following the stabbing. He was described as a White or Hispanic man with tattoos all over his head with one saying, “Fontana”.
The female victim was transported to the Hesperia Airport by ground ambulance to prepare to be airlifted to a trauma center for the treatment of six stab wounds, two being to her chest area.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Hesperia resident, Richard Chavez was located at a neighboring home and was in custody a short time later. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for attempted murder.
The weapon was located inside the Poplar Street home. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials said that the suspect and victim were friends who got into a dispute that led to the stabbing.
