WRIGHTWOOD, Calif. – A woman waiting for water to be delivered to her Wrightwood home was killed when the driver of the water tender accidentally ran her over.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at around 6:50 p.m. in the 3300 block of Pinon Pines Road. The 67-year-old woman, was found trapped under the Peterbilt water tender that was delivering water to her home. The woman was stuck under the vehicle for over 20 minutes before emergency medical personnel got her out, onto a backboard, and into the ambulance.
The woman was seriously injured, leading to an air ambulance to be requested to transport the woman to a trauma center. The landing zone was established at the Stater Bros parking lot Phelan Road, CHP officials said. The air ambulance was canceled as the woman’s medical stability deteriorated.
The woman was transported to Desert Valley Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. It is unclear how the woman was ran over but for reasons that remain under investigation the vehicle began driving forward wedging the woman under the front left tire. The water delivery driver, a 27-year-old Pinon Hills man was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the incident.
