YUCAIPA – A Jack in the Box employee and her boyfriend were attacked by a homeless man as they exited their vehicle authorities said.
On Sunday, June 3, 2018, a 32-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man went to the Jack in the Box located in the 34500 block of Yucaipa Boulevard in Yucaipa. The female victim, an employee was arriving for her shift with her boyfriend. The two got out of the vehicle, and Eric Sicard, 39, a Yucaipa transient approached them and began attacking the male. The woman got a bat out of her vehicle in an attempt to defend her boyfriend, but she was quickly knocked to the ground by Sicard, who was able to gain possession of the bat.
Sicard stuck the woman in the legs with the bat. The male victim attempted to protect her and was struck in the arms with the bat. A bystander tackled the suspect and struggled with him on the ground. An unknown male, believed to also be a transient, attacked the bystander punching him numerous times. Sicard and the unknown male suspect fled on foot. A sheriff’s helicopter responded to the scene and located Sicard in the loading dock area of Focus Vision, also in the 34500 block Yucaipa Boulevard.
Sicard was arrested without further incident. All involved sustained cuts and bruises, no one was seriously injured. The suspect who assaulted the bystander was not located. Sicard was arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with bail set a $50,000.
