YUCAIPA – A 26-year-old Yucaipa substitute teacher was arrested for illegal sexual conduct with a minor, authorities said.
Yucaipa High School staff became aware of the allegations about the inappropriate relationship between the student and employee of the Yucaipa-Calimesa joint unified school district. When the school became aware, they reported the allegations to the Yucaipa Sheriff’s Station and the San Bernardino County Children and Family Services. Detectives began seeking evidence and conducted multiple interviews.
The incidents were learned to have occurred between February and March 2014, when Trevor Jack Trathen, of Yucaipa, was a coach at Yucaipa High School. Trathen allegedly met the victim while he was a student at the school. Trathen most recently worked as a substitute teacher at the school and since the allegations, he has been removed from the Yucaipa/Calimesa School District-Substitute System.
Trathen was arrested on September 2, 2017, at around 12:00 p.m. He was booked into jail for oral copulation with a minor 14-years of age and penetration with a foreign object on a minor 14-years of age. He is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail.
Anyone with information about this incident or thinks that they may have been victimized by Trathen should call Detective Josette Tracy or Sergeant Dana Foster with the Specialized Investigation Division – Crimes Against Children Detail at 909-387-3615.
