Yucaipa Man, 20, Arrested for Murder of Newly Engaged Father

RIVERSIDE – A 20-year-old Yucaipa man was arrested for a murder that occurred at the Chase Bank parking lot in the 10300 block of Magnolia Avenue in the City of Riverside on September 1, 2017.

At around 4:28 a.m., officers, and paramedics responded to the shooting. When they arrived they located a gray 4-door sedan still running and backed up against a tree with a man, later identified as Daniel Dean still inside. Officers broke the back window of the vehicle to get to Dean, a newly engaged father of a toddler girl. When they made access to Dean they learned that he had sustained gunshot wounds to his upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Through investigation, detectives with the Robbery-Homicide Unit, the California Department of Justice Special Operations Unit and other units within the Riverside Police Department identified a suspect. An arrest warrant was obtained for the arrest of Erian Jacob Brown who was located in North Las Vegas, in Nevada by the FBI Fugitive Task Force.

Brown was extradited from Nevada and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside. He was arrested for murder and attempted carjacking and is being held without bail.
