YUCAIPA, Calif. – Five gunshot wound victims were rushed to the hospital late Sunday night in Yucaipa.
Authorities said that at around 9:48 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 1200 block of California Street for the report of a fight with multiple shots fired. Deputies located five people, all suffering from gunshot wounds; three with non-life-threatening leg or arm wounds, and two with graze wounds.
It was learned that there was a family barbecue at the home during the late afternoon. A Chevrolet Trailblazer pulled into the mobile home park and the occupants began arguing with family members. They threatened to come back and kill them, then they left the area. Photos were taken of the vehicle and provided to deputies.
Multiple subjects who were involved in the earlier argument return and began fighting. The fighting escalated and numerous rounds were fired from a handgun. The suspect vehicle was located and one of the suspects has been detained, his role in the shooting, if any, is not known.
Deputies believe that there were dozens of witnesses around the fight that led to the shooting. Some of those left the scene before deputies arrived.
