THOUSAND PALMS, Ca. – A 56-year-old Yucca Valley man lost his life after a traffic collision, CHP officials said.
On Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at around 10:43 p.m., the Yucca Valley man was driving a 2017 Nissan Sentra. He was driving westbound on Ramon Road, west of Robert Road. A 2019 International big rig was parked on the right shoulder with the hazard lights on. The Nissan driver was driving at a high rate of speed and made an unsafe turning movement to the right side of the road, colliding into the back of the big rig.
The driver of the big rig, who was sleeping in the sleeper area of the vehicle, was not injured as a result of the collision.The driver of the Nissan was found to be dead on arrival. Authorities are not releasing the identity of the man killed at this time. The collision remains under investigation. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision. The driver of the Nissan was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
