TUCSON, Ariz. – An Arizona teen was arrested on Monday after attempting to smuggle illicit drugs into the U.S.
The 17-year-old boy attempted to cross Arizona’s Port of Nogales from Mexico into the U.S. through the Morley Pedestrian Crossing when he was referred for further inspection. The CBP narcotics detection Canine first caught the scent of drugs. The teen was then searched by CBP officers who found a concealed package strapped on his back. The package was found to contain over 2 pounds of cocaine valued at around $56,000.
The drugs were seized and the teen was arrested and subsequently turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
