DALLAS, TX – A Thursday night protest regarding the recent police-involved shootings led to violence as shots were fired reportedly hitting at several Dallas police officers. Ten Dallas police officers are reported to be shot, three deceased (2 Dallas and 1 DART), three are in critical condition and two in surgery, KDFW Fox 4 News reported.
The evening started peacefully with people of all ages gathering at Belo Garden Park in the City of Dallas. Demonstrators lined the streets and walked chanting, “Black Lives Matter”, Dallas Police said. Demonstrators stopped to voice their sadness, frustration and feelings of helplessness at the Old Red Museum.

Suddenly, numerous shots were fired and protesters scattered, running for cover. Per scanner traffic, the suspect was described as a black man that was wearing black shorts, a camouflage shirt and was armed with an AR-15 rifle. KDFW Fox 4 News (North Texas) reported that police are investigating a parking garage.
It is unknown if there are any civilian injuries at this time or the extent of the injuries to those shot. Police have set up a large perimeter searching for the shooter believed to be a black man that was armed with an assault rifle.

UPDATE (8:50 p.m. PST): One in custody, it is unclear if he is the sole suspect or a suspect at all in the case. An 11th police officer was shot during a shootout during the arrest, authorities said.

UPDATE (9:05 p.m.) There are possibly negotiations going on with another suspect or person of interest. This is reported to be a planned assault with 2-3 shooters. At least one civilian woman is reported to be shot.

UPDATE (9:25 PST): Eleven officers shot, several were shot in the back. Four are confirmed deceased.
A suspicious package was left where the first suspect was taken into custody, the bomb squad is investigating that package. The person of interest pictured in the camouflage shirt and black shorts has turned himself in and is being questioned by authorities.
