BELLFLOWER, Calif. – A Hesperia man remains at large following a shooting that killed a 25-year-old Lynwood man.

Oscar Ruiz
The shooting occurred at a party on January 20th at around 12:30 a.m. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 17100 block of Downey Avenue City of Bellflower for the report of a shooting, officials said. Oscar Ruiz was shot several times outside of the home, at that time, by an unknown suspect. Ruiz was found with multiple wounds to the upper torso area of his body. He was pronounced deceased at the scene, officials said.
Through investigation, detectives learned that Ruiz was at the location to pick up a friend that was involved in an altercation earlier at the party. Sheriff officials said that the female friend was walking out to the vehicle and several people followed her. Another altercation occurred and Oscar was attacked during the altercation, sheriff’s officials said. A suspect pulled out a gun, shooting several times, including the shots that took the life of Ruiz. The shooting suspect was later identified as Marco Antonio Garay.
The suspect fled the area following the shooting. Garay remains at large following a search throughout Southern California. Anyone with information was asked to call Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department detectives at 323-890-5500.
