PALMDALE, Ca. – A man was accidentally run over while attempting to steal a catalytic converter on Tuesday.
At around 5:56 p.m. deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Palmdale Station received a call reporting a man down in the 39000 block of 10th Street West, in the City of Palmdale.
According to a news release, a female caller told dispatchers that she was sleeping in her 4X4 Ford Excursion in the retail parking lot when she woke up to a sound. She turned on her vehicle and began backing out of the parking space when she felt she had run something over. She stopped her car and saw a man lying on the ground. She immediately called 9-1-1 while she remained at the scene.
When deputies and emergency medical personnel arrived, they found the man lying on the ground. He was rushed to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Three other suspects, two females, and a male were parked next to the Excursion and were detained. No other information has been released at this time. Any additional information will be updated as it is received.
