Child star Erin Moran, best known for her role of Joanie Cunningham in the 1970’s sitcom ‘Happy Days’ died of unknown causes on Saturday. Moran was known early on for her bright eyes and smiling face during her childhood career. Her later years were filled with some additional television roles, then turmoil which lead Moran to eventually became homeless.
On Saturday, April 22, 2017, dispatchers received the emergency call reporting that there was an unresponsive woman at the scene. Emergency medical personnel arrived and determined that the woman was Moran and that she was dead on arrival. The cause of her death remains unknown, but will be determined by an autopsy. Officials believe that Moran may have died of Cancer complications.
Moran played in numerous roles, including the early 1980’s ‘Happy Days’ spin-off ‘Joanie Loves Chachi’ where she starred with Scott Baio who played “Chachi” on ‘Happy Days. She also starred in the “Love Boat’ and “Murder She Wrote”.
Ron Howard, who played her brother Richie Cunningham on ‘Happy Days’ tweeted, “Such sad, sad news. RIP Erin. I’ll always choose to remember you on our show making scenes better, getting laughs and lighting up tv screens.”
Erin Moran Fleischmann died in Harrison County, Indiana at only 56-years-old.
