LOS ANGELES – An inmate who walked away from the Men’s Community Re-entry Program (MCRP) in Los Angeles on Thursday, was located on Friday in the City of Ontario prison officials said.
Jesse Hernandez, 38, was located and apprehended at around 12:30 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016, by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) Special Service Unit and the Ontario Police Department. Once apprehended, Hernandez, was transported to the California Institution for Men in Chino, where he now may face additional charges.
Hernandez was participating in the voluntary MCRP, which allows inmates to serve the end of their sentence in a re-entry center, which provides programs and resources to help the inmate transition from custody back into the community. He was serving a three-year sentence beginning December 11, 2015, for evading a peace officer while driving the wrong way in a vehicle and vehicle theft. He was scheduled to be released from prison to probation in March 2017.
