Four Barstow Men Arrested for an Outdoor Marijuana Cultivation

BARSTOW – Deputies from the Barstow Station stumbled upon an outdoor marijuana grow when following up on an investigation in the 28000 block of Old State 58. While making contact with the residents, deputies located was 300 marijuana plants that were each around 10 feet tall. The Sheriff’s Department’s Marijuana Enforcement Team responded to the home to assist in the investigation.

Deputies obtained a search warrant allowing for them to remove and recover the 300 plants. Also located at the home was three firearms, which deputies also recovered. “The large amount of marijuana found and other evidence seized at the location suggests the suspects had no intention of abiding by California’s medical marijuana laws or local ordinances relating to growing marijuana for medical purposes,” Sheriff’s officials said in the news release.

Outdoor marijuana cultivations are prohibited in the County of San Bernardino. Four Suspects including Barstow residents, Jose Apodaca, 36, Regustino Galavis, 24, Jesus Nevares, 29 and Regino Soto, 40 were all booked into the Barstow Jail for the marijuana cultivation. All are being held in lieu of $25,000 bail. Also, during booking, Nevares was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant out of the State of Arizona for marijuana cultivation. That arrest warrant was under his alias of Saba Navares-Ceballos.
