GLENDALE – A 36-year-old Glendale man was sentenced to 41 years to life in prison for killing his grandparents using an ax and hammer Los Angeles County District Attorney’s officials said.
Nathaniel Wayne Scheiern lived with his grandparents at the time of the murder that occurred on June 24 or 25th of 2015. Scheiern attacked and killed his grandmother, Verna Scheiern, 82, with an ax and then killed his grandfather, William Sheiern, 77, with a hammer when he attempted to intervene.
The bodies of the couple were not discovered by police until days later, on June 28, 2015. Nathaniel Wayne Scheiern pleaded no contest on April 27 to one count each of first-degree murder and second-degree murder. He also admitted to using an ax, a deadly and dangerous weapon.
