CLEVELAND, OH. – A 38-year-old Cleveland, Ohio man is behind bars after killing his longtime girlfriend while shooting off rounds from his firearm on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at around 12:15 a.m.
Police said that Sheldon Stevens Jr. was under the influence of alcohol when a bullet struck Ericka Miranda, 31, in the chest, killing her. When police arrived, they found Miranda on the ground with Stevens lying on top of her. Miranda was rushed to the hospital where she died as a result of her injuries at the Merrill Avenue home in the City of Cleveland.
Authorities say that the two have been a couple for over five years and witnesses said that there was no indication of any problems between the two. The incident remains under investigation, while Stevens remains in custody for reckless homicide.
