A 60-year-old North Carolina man who was visiting family for the holidays was rushed to the hospital after being caught naked from the waist down, in a bedroom with two small children.
On December 29, 2019, the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s office responded to the report of a disturbance in the 6800 block of Luce Lane in Spotsylvania county in Virginia. When they arrived in the early-morning hours, there was a physical altercation between an older man and a family member. The older man who was later identified as Mark Stanley, suffered from visible facial injuries as the second man approached him with a gun. Deputies ordered the man to drop the gun. The man complied with the deputy’s demands.
It was learned that Stanley was visiting when one of the family members woke up to check on his two and three-year-old child. “When the family member opened the children’s bedroom door, he found the suspect, Mr. Stanley in the room with the children nude from the waist down,” officials said. “When the family member questioned what he was doing in the room, Mr. Stanley pushed the family member out of the room, then locking the door.” He forced entry into the room then physically beat Stanley, police said. He was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries and was subsequently booked at the Rappahannock Jail for two counts of indecent liberties and one count of domestic assault. He is being held without. The children were also evaluated for any injuries, but no information has been released at this time.
Additional charges may be brought against Mr. Stanley as the investigation continues. No charges were brought against the family member.
