HELENDALE – A Victorville man and woman were detained following a report of a strong-arm robbery at a Helendale cafe on Monday night. At around 10:35 p.m. deputies from the Victor Valley Station responded to 27170 Lakeview Driver, near Vista Street in Helendale. The reporting party told dispatchers, per scanner traffic, that a black man was taking items from the store and when he approached him, the suspect hit him and left with items valued at over $1000.
The reporting party was able to tell the dispatchers the suspect and suspect vehicle description, as well as a partial license plate to the 2000 silver Mercedes sedan. Using the information provided, a deputy located the occupied suspect vehicle on National Trails Highway and Turner Road South in Victorville. The suspect and the female occupant in the vehicle were detained for questioning. It is unknown if either occupant was taken into custody. Information will be updated as it is received.
