SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The ex-boyfriend of a woman who was murdered, and dumped in a suitcase on the side of the road was charged with the kidnapping of her children.
The decomposed body of Jessica McCormack was found by a bicyclist riding on Highway 59 between Noel and Ginger Blue on July 29, 2019. He immediately called the police to make them aware of his discovery. When they arrived they found the female body that was left on a steep hillside along the road. A suitcase believed to at-one-point contain McCormack’s deceased body was found near her body. The incident was immediately determined to be a murder.
McCormack was seen alive by law enforcement officers when they responded to her home on July 16, 2019. Mahamud Tooxoow Mahamed, 37, a Somali national who resided in Springfield, Missouri, was at her home at the time and introduced as her “paramour”. Her three daughters, ages 4, 2, and 6-months-old were also at the home. It was learned that Mahamed was the father of the 2-year-old child.
No one was able to locate the three children after McCormack’s body was located and identified. An Amber Alert was issued for the kids who were located at a Des Moines, IA home where Mahamed left them. The father of McCormack’s Oldest child said that Mahamed did not have consent to take the 4-year child out of the state. Authorities do not know who the father of the 6-month-old child is at this time
Mahamed is not in federal custody and is a fugitive from justice.
