HOUSTON, TX. -A 47-year-old Texas man, just moments after explaining how he drives better when he drinks crashed killing his girlfriend and two others.
On Sunday, October 25, 2020, at around 7:53 a.m. Camilo Morejon was driving with three other people in his Honda Accord. The woman in the front passenger seat, his girlfriend, was recording while he drank out of a bottle of beer as he was driving. He passes it to her and she drinks some, then she passes the bottle back. All of the drinking, including Morejon explaining in spanish how he drives better while drinking was captured for their Facebook live audience.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s officials, the Facebook live ended at 7:47 a.m. and moments later Morejon crashed into a black pickup truck on Farm-to-Market Road 529 in Houston. All three of his passengers, two unrestrained, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was unrestrained and was ejected from his vehicle and is currently being treated for life-threatening injuries. The 45-year-old male passenger in the pickup truck is in serious condition. Morejon was critically injured but his injuries are described as non-life-threatening.
Authorities said that Morejon was not only drinking but he was also speeding at the time of the collision. Camilo Morejon was charged with three counts of Manslaughter and may face an additional charge if the driver of the truck dies as a result of his injuries. Morejon can face up to 80 years in prison if convicted as charged.
