LOS ANGELES – A 56-year-old man was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for a fatal stabbing at a motel in the 10400 block of South Vermont Avenue over two years ago. Oscar Bridges pleaded no contest to first-degree murder during a Monday court hearing.
Bridges was immediately sentenced following the plea. The case stemmed from a January 23, 2014, incident where Bridges stabbed 21-year-old Robert Brewer with a kitchen knife. “The victim suffered a total of 17 sharp-force injuries and died at the scene,” Deputy District Attorney Frank Dunnick said.
The case was prosecuted by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office and investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
