MENIFEE, Calif. – A Menifee man who was in possession of numerous weapons was arrested for illegal discharge of a firearm.
On July 6, 2019, deputies responded to the 26000 Block of Byers Road in the City of Menifee for the report of an illegal discharge of a firearm. At 3:52 p.m. deputies arrived at the home and learned that the man was acting irrationally and discharged a firearm inside the home. Lucas Rutledge, 37, the suspect, was not at the location when deputies arrived.
On June 9, 2019, at around 4:39 p.m. deputies learned that the suspect had returned home. Deputies from the Perris Station Special Enforcement Team, Riverside County Gang Task Force Region 6, Riverside County Sheriff’s K-9 Team, Riverside County Sheriff’s Hazardous Device Team, Sheriff’s Department helicopter, and members of Riverside County Sheriff’s SWAT responded to the residence. Several people who were at the home were detained. Those detained confirmed that Rutledge was inside the home. Rutledge exited the home and surrendered peacefully.
A search was done of the property and an AT-4 anti-tank weapon launcher was located inside one of the structures on the property. The Hazardous Device Team responded, rendered the weapon safe and took possession of the weapon. Three firearms were also located including an AR-15 rifle.
While searching the property, As a result of the investigation, Rutledge was arrested for the illegal discharge of a firearm and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center.
